Sioux Falls sheep sales report

The Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 742 head Nov. 18, compared to 399 head last week and 1,601 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold mostly $2 higher, instances were $3 higher. Slaughter ewes and feeder lambs were too few for an accurate trend to be determined. The offering of slaughter lambs more attractive than last week's offering. Receipts were about 47% slaughter lambs, 28% slaughter ewes, 16% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep.

Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 133 to 139 lbs., 100.00 to 100.25 (100.11). Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 122 to 128 lbs., 97.00 to 100.00 (99.25).; 133 to 148 lbs., 97.00 to 100.00 (99.37). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 5 head, 103 lbs., 90.50; 11 head, 132 lbs., 95.75.

Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 9 head, 153 lbs., 20.50. Good 2 to 4, fleshy, 12 head, 192 lbs., 36.00; 7 head, 219 to 228 lbs., 28.00 to 37.00 (34.35). Good 3 to 4, fleshy, 10 head, 250 lbs., 36.00. Cull 1, thin, 9 head, 108 to 111 lbs., 6.00 to 8.00 (6.44).

Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 17 head, 70 to 79 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00 (103.93); 18 head, 81 lbs., 105.50; 9 head, 93 lbs., 95.50; 102 to 103 lbs., 95.00 to 97.00 (95.80); 7 head, 114 lbs., 93.00.

Slaughter kids: Selection 1, 7 head, 45 lbs., 101.00; 7 head, 58 lbs., 105.00; 3 head, 63 lbs., 105.00. Selection 1 to 2, 7 head, 60 lbs., 76.00 to 84.00 (80.57); 5 head, 80 lbs., 82.00.

Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 1, 102 to 113 lbs., 42.00 to 47.50 (46.11). Selection 1 to 2, 10 head, 116 lbs., 36.00.
