OKC West livestock sales report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 6,652 head, compared to 5,871 head last week, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were $6 to $10 lower. Feeder heifers were $5 to $8 lower. Steer and heifer calves were $4 to $10 lower. Demand was light to moderate for all classes with long-weaned calves seeing the most action. The supply included several loads of slightly thin to medium-fleshed feeder cattle. Receipts consisted of 63% over 600 pounds, 28% under 600 pounds, 9% cows and bulls. The total included 33% heifers. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were $1 lower. Packer demand was moderate. A total of 644 cows and bulls sold with 36% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.50 to 102.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 89.00 to 90.00, 635 lb. calves 85.00; 725 to 800 lbs., 88.00 to 90.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 87.50 to 89.50. Lean, 71 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1375 lbs., 38.50 to 42.00; high dressing, 44.00 to 45.00; low dressing, 35.25 to 39.50. Lights, 39 head, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1000 lbs., 36.00 to 38.00; high dressing, 42.00; low dressing, 30.00 to 35.00; very low, 26.00 to 31.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 9 head, 1450 to 2075 lbs., 54.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 48.00 to 52.50.

Replacement cows: Heifers, 800 to 900 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, high quality, 1025.00 to 1160.00; 1 to 4 years old, 850 to 1000 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 590.00 to 660.00; 4 to 5 years old, 1150 to 1250 lbs., 2 to 4 months bred, high blacks, 820.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1075 to 1325 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average quality, 530.00 to 630.00.
