Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D, reported receipts of 2,569 head Nov. 13, compared to 4,215 head last week and 1,203 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to two weeks ago, feeder lambs weighing under 80 pounds sold mostly $6 to $10 lower. Feeder lambs weighing over 80 pounds sold mostly $4 higher. Much buyer demand exhibited for lot loads of 72 pound lambs. Buyer attendance good with moderate demand. The supply consisted of approximately 18% slaughter ewes and bucks, 77% feeders, and 5% replacement ewes. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 148 head, 146 head, 146 lbs., 24.50; 186 head, 172 lbs., 28.00. Utility 1 to 2, medium fleshed, 23 head, 161 lbs., 18.00. Cull 1 to 2, thin, 52 head, 131 lbs., 11.25. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 603 head, 72 lbs., 121.50; 89 head, 75 lbs., 104.00 full; 12 head, 88 lbs., 91.25; 93 to 98 lbs., 95.25 to 99.00 (98.06). Medium and large frame 2, 31 head, 47 lbs., 107.50; 53 to 54 lbs., 110.25 to 115.50 (114.53); 50 head, 61 lbs., 108.50.
