Missouri RFA elects new presidentMissouri Members of the Missouri Renewable Fuels Association, an organization comprised of Missouri's six farmer-owned ethanol plants and the Missouri Corn Growers Association, have selected Gene Millard of St. Joseph, Mo., as the organization's 2008-2009 president. Millard, chairman of Golden Triangle Energy LLC, a majority farmer-owned ethanol plant in Craig, Mo., assumed the new leadership responsibilities on Oct. 1. He succeeds John Eggleston, president of POET Biorefining-Macon and founding MoRFA president. "John deserves much praise for his leadership and dedication to the ethanol industry during his two-plus years as MoRFA president," says Millard. "He invested his time and hard work into guiding a start-up organization and his efforts are very much appreciated." Established in 2006, the Missouri Renewable Fuels Association is committed to building and maintaining a positive, profitable environment for Missouri's ethanol plants through political action and consumer education. "Gene has a great feel for the direction the organization should take," said Eggleston. "Our team will face new challenges as the renewable fuels industry continues to grow and evolve. I have great confidence in Gene's ability to help guide education and public policy efforts to support Missouri's ethanol industry." Other 2008-2009 MoRFA officers elected include: Vice president: Ryland Utlaut, Mid-Missouri Energy; Secretary: David Vogt, POET Biorefining-Laddonia; Treasurer: Bill Becker, LifeLine Foods, Inc. In addition to officer elections, voting members decided at their recent board meeting to support congressional candidates and members of the Missouri House and Senate who back Missouri's farmer-owned ethanol industry. MoRFA leaders also established framework for continued consumer education and outreach, as well as political involvement for the upcoming legislative year.
