HCC ag teams place at the American RoyalKansas The Hutchinson Community College agriculture program finished fourth in the team sweepstakes competition at the American Royal in Kansas City, Missouri, on Nov. 1. HCC had three other top ten placings in the team categories, placing fourth in beef judging and reasons and fifth in sheep judging. Individually, four students ranked in the standings at the event. Glen Toews, Burrton, placed 15th in sheep judging. Jeremy Leister, Hutchinson, was fifth in beef and placed 18th overall. Karl Dawn Hobbs, Beloit, took home four placings, with a 19th in beef, 20th in sheep and reasons and 16th in the overall competition. Lindi Jury, Sublette, was sixth in beef, 14th in sheep, 17th in reasons and posted the top overall finish on the team at 9th. Other team members competing at the event included: Mia Buettel, Hutchinson, Justin Malott, Hutchinson, Chad Courtney, Blackwell, Okla., and Travis Stroble, Longton. The HCC agricultural teams are coached by HCC instructors Dale Conard, Bill Disberger, Richard Geist and Steve Sears, while Ryan Still, from the Kansas Natural Resource Conservation Service coaches the soils team.
