Faith livestock sales reportThe Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 2,312 head Nov. 17, compared to 1,392 head last week and 1,259 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week's light feeder cattle run, steer and heifer calves sold with a sharply weaker undertone. The bulk of the offerings were less attractive than the previous week. Buyer attendance was moderate with light demand. An attractive supply of bred heifers sold firm. Bred cows sold weak. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady to $2 lower with light demand. The cattle supply consisted of approximately 10% slaughter cows and bulls, 17% replacement cattle, and 73% feeder cattle. The feeder supply included 69% steers; 31% heifers, with 29% weighing over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 403 to 449 lbs., 115.50 to 123.00 (119.07); 470 to 489 lbs., 113.50 to 117.75 (115.03); 501 to 540 lbs., 106.00 to 108.75 (108.52); 560 to 591 lbs., 98.25 to 102.00 (100.16); 603 to 644 lbs., 95.00 to 99.00 (97.47) calves; 672 to 699 lbs., 93.25 to 99.50 (98.32) calves; 705 to 709 lbs., 94.25 to 96.00 (95.68) calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 30 head, 492 lbs., 107.00; 521 to 549 lbs., 98.00 to 100.50 (99.07); 52 head, 625 lbs., 99.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 328 lbs., 95.00; 17 head, 371 to 382 lbs., 96.50 to 101.50 (99.48): 27 head, 433 lbs., 101.75; 456 to 499 lbs., 93.00 to 98.25 (95.90) 506 to 544 lbs., 92.50 to 98.25 (95.80); 553 to 599 lbs., 84.75 to 89.75 (87.21); 927 to 933 lbs., 82.25 to 83.25 (82.51); 6 head, 952 lbs., 82.50. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1310 to 1660 lbs., 38.50 to 41.25; high dressing, 47.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1025 to 1500 lbs., 37.50 to 42.25; high dressing, 45.00 to 47.00; low dressing, 34.00 to 37.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 940 to 1410 lbs., 34.50 to 38.50; high dressing, 39.00 to 44.00; low dressing, 30.50 to 34.50. Heiferettes: 970 to 1170 lbs., 54.00 to 60.50, couple up to 66.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1220 to 2400 lbs., 53.00 to 58.50. Replacement heifers: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 7 months bred, 946 to 1060 lbs., 1025.00 to 1225.00 per head.
