Amarillo livestock sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,118 head Nov. 18, compared to 848 head last week and 1,062 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $4 to $8 lower, instances were $10 to $12 lower on heavy fleshy bawling calves. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 700-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were light to moderate at best. Slaughter cows made up 5% of the offering, slaughter bulls less than 1%, replacement cows 4% and feeders 90%. The feeder supply included 50% steers and bulls and 50% heifers, with nearly 41% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., few 109.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.50 to 101.50; 600 to 675 lbs., calves 80.00 to 90.00, package 628 lbs., yearlings 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 367 lbs., 110.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 91.00 to 103.00; 500 to 550 lbs., few 96.00; 600 to 650 lbs., calves 75.00 to 80.00; load 769 lbs., 93.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 700 lbs., 74.00 to 81.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 71.00 to 78.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 83.00 to 95.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 73.00 to 87.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 75.00 to 81.00, package 806 lbs., 83.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 79.00 to 89.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 75.00 to 86.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 72.00 to 83.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 72.50 to 83.00; 750 to 775 lbs., 76.00 to 80.00; package fleshy 709 lbs., 65.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 40.00 to 42.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 40.00 to 43.50; high dressing, 44.50 to 48.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 38.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 38.00 to 40.00; high dressing, 42.50 to 44.00; low dressing, 32.00 to 37.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 32.00 to 36.00; low dressing, 30.00 to 32.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1600 to 2250 lbs., 51.50 to 54.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 800 to 1000 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 600.00 to 710.00 per head; middle-aged to aged, 900 to 1400 lbs., 5 to 8 months bred, 460.00 to 510.00. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, Longhorn running aged, 600 to 800 lbs., 2 to 5 months bred, 200.00 to 280.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged, 800 to 1000 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, 770.00 to 965.00 per pair.
