OKC West livestock sales report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 5,871 head Nov. 12, compared to 7,332 head last week and 4,868 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 lower. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle despite two consecutive days of sharply lower cattle futures. Steer and heifer calves were steady to $3 lower. Demand was very uneven for calves with least action on fleshy un-weaned calves. The supply was very typical for the fall with many calves and few yearlings. Weigh-ups were average to full. Receipts included 52% over 600 pounds, 42% under 600 pounds, 6% cows and bulls. The total included 44% heifers. Slaughter cows were unevenly steady. Slaughter bulls were $2 lower. Demand was moderate for all classes. A total of 390 cows and bulls sold with 43% going to packers.

Replacement cows: Heifers, 800 to 900 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, average blacks, 650.00 to 700.00; 3 to 5 years old, 1050 to 1150 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average blacks, 700.00 to 760.00; 5 years old, 950 to 1250 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, average to high blacks, 800.00 to 870.00; 6 to 8 years old, 1250 to 1400 lbs., 3 to 5 months bred, average quality, 540.00 to 615.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1100 to 1350 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 560.00 to 680.00; 10 years old, 1150 to 1350 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality, 450.00 to 580.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 years old, 1150 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average blacks, 1000.00; 5 years old, 800 to 975 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves, average quality, 840.00 to 850.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, average quality, 610.00 to 700.00.
