OKC West livestock sales reportThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 5,871 head Nov. 12, compared to 7,332 head last week and 4,868 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 lower. Demand was moderate to good for feeder cattle despite two consecutive days of sharply lower cattle futures. Steer and heifer calves were steady to $3 lower. Demand was very uneven for calves with least action on fleshy un-weaned calves. The supply was very typical for the fall with many calves and few yearlings. Weigh-ups were average to full. Receipts included 52% over 600 pounds, 42% under 600 pounds, 6% cows and bulls. The total included 44% heifers. Slaughter cows were unevenly steady. Slaughter bulls were $2 lower. Demand was moderate for all classes. A total of 390 cows and bulls sold with 43% going to packers.
