Corn, soybean production lower than last monthSouth Dakota South Dakota's Nov. 1 corn production is forecast at 554.7 million bushels according to the South Dakota Office of the National Agricultural Statistics Service. The forecasted production is down 2 percent from last month but up 2 percent from last year's level. Yield is forecast at 129 bushels per acre, down 3 bushels from the October forecast but up 8 bushels from last year. Acres to be harvested for grain are forecast at 4.3 million, unchanged from the previous forecast but down 4 percent from last year. Soybean production is forecast at 133.32 million bushels, down 8 percent from last month and down 2 percent from last year. Yield, at 33 bushels per acre, is down 3 bushels from last month and 9 bushels from last year. Acres for harvest are forecast at 4.04 million, up 25 percent from last year. Sorghum production is forecast at 7.15 million bushels, unchanged from last month but 11 percent below last year's level. Yield, at 65 bushels per acre, is unchanged from last month but is 3 bushels above last year. If realized, this would be South Dakota's highest grain sorghum yield in 10 years.
