In a joint announcement, Texas AgriLife Extension Service and the Upshur County Commissioners Court have named Jessica Stahn as the agent for agriculture and natural resources in Upshur County.

Stahn has a bachelor's degree in agricultural business from Texas A&M University-Commerce. She also has work experience in the banking and retail industries.

Prior to attending Texas A&M-Commerce, Stahn was a Harrison County 4-H club member. She held positions of president, vice president, treasurer and secretary in the Harrison County 4-H Council. She also was a member of FFA (Future Farmers of America) at both the high school and collegiate level.

"I feel certain Jessica will do an excellent job because of her leadership skills and enthusiasm for providing quality, educational programs and working with the public," said Dr. Ramona Kellam, AgriLife Extension district administrator.

As a new county agent, Stahn will participate in AgriLife Extension's 30-day "FIRST STEP For Success" program.

"First Step provides the new agent an opportunity to develop a basic understanding of the role of a county agent and offers the opportunity to observe and experience the day-to-day operations of a typical county Extension Office," Kellam said.
