New exhibit promotes Colorado produceColorado The Colorado Department of Agriculture has recently debuted their new State Pavilion at the Produce Marketing Association's Fresh Summit in Orlando, Fla. The summit is the largest trade show for produce in the world with the goal of increasing sales and consumption, building strong professional relationships, and expanding business opportunities. Running Oct. 24 to 27, a record 27,503 attendees from 61 countries attended the show. "We are very pleased that our produce growers and associations found new sales opportunities at the 2008 Fresh Summit trade show," said Tim Larsen, of CDA's Markets Division. "We all look forward to building on our first year's experience at the show and know that the Colorado Pavilion in 2009 and beyond will create new sales for our $370 million produce industry." Colorado's produce industry was represented by of the Colorado Potato Administrative Committee, Colorado Onion Association, Colorado Certified Seed Potato Growers Association, Farm Fresh Direct, Harvest Select, Mountain Valley Produce, and Botanical Interests. Our companies reported interest in our potatoes not just from throughout the U.S. but also Mexico, Costa Rica and Panama." Not only did we meet with potential buyers from throughout the US, we had requests from at least 6 countries wanting us to develop seed agreements. We had interest for our Colorado grown seeds from Central and South America, Canada, Australian, New Zealand as well as Europe." The Colorado Department of Agriculture has created a new web portal for our produce industry at www.coloradoagriculture.com/produce, where buyers and the public can learn more about Colorado's produce industry as well as view information on the exhibitors at this years show. Colorado's produce industry has already reserved Pavilion space for the 2009 show.
