McCulloch County gets new AgriLife Extension agent

Texas

Vance Christie will become the new Texas AgriLife Extension Service agent in McCulloch County effective Nov. 1, according to a joint announcement by McCulloch County Judge Randy Young and Scott Durham, AgriLife Extension administrator at San Angelo.

"Vance will be the new AgriLife Extension agent for agriculture and natural resources in this key county," Durham said. "He's a native West Texan who has the experience in Extension work, as well as the expertise to continue the strong AgriLife Extension tradition that McCulloch County has come to know and expect over the years."

Christie holds bachelor's and master's degrees in animal science and agricultural education, respectively, from Tarleton State University at Stephenville.

Prior to rejoining AgriLife Extension, Christie most recently was the agricultural industry specialist with Wells Fargo Bank at Big Spring. He also worked for Texas Farm Bureau, and was an associate agriculture professor and livestock judging coach at Howard College in Big Spring.

Christie started his AgriLife Extension career as an assistant county agent in Deaf Smith County. He later served as the AgriLife Extension agent for agriculture and natural resources in Real and Mitchell counties.

Christie fills the position vacated by Jerry Kidd who transferred to Menard June 1.
