Cherokee FFA members attend National FFA conventionOklahoma
Eight Cherokee FFA members recently attended the 2008 National FFA Convention. Members attending were Ethan Wharton, Garrett Starks, Sabrina Wilber, Taylor Croft, Jacob Salinas, Jerran Waugh, Wesely Gilchrist, and Will Sanborn. Sponsors in attendance were Orla Wilber and Jennifer Starks. The members had an educational week. The members flew out of Oklahoma City and arrived in Indianapolis, Ind., Oct. 22. After a fun filled day of travel the members settled into their hotel rooms that would be home for the next five days. On Oct. 22 the members went on two different educational tours one to Indiana Downs and one to Connor Parries. After a very eventful day the members attended the First General Session of the National FFA convention and then off to see the Taylor Swift Concert. Oct. 23 was spent at the career show and FFA mall as they learned more about colleges and career opportunities available to the students after high school. That evening the students attended the third general session to hear motivational speakers. On Oct. 24 the students toured the National FFA Headquarters and attend at leadership workshop about being a better leader through followership. Oct. 25 was spent traveling once again to the great state of Oklahoma. A special thanks to the Cherokee Ag Booster Club that made it possible for the FFA students to attend National Convention by flying. We couldn't of made the trip without Orla and Jennifer so thank you so much for all your time and effort as well. All and all the trip was a great success and the students plan on applying the leadership and followership skills learned at the event in the Cherokee FFA Chapter and community.
