Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending April 26, totaled 2,200 head, compared to 6,200 head last week and 1,725 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were lightly tested, and a steady to higher undertone was noted. Overall quality was uneven. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trading was slow with no comparison available except for a few steers at $1 lower. Demand was light to moderate. Buyer inquiry was light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 64% of the supply, heifers 36%, with 85% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1560 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 390 lbs., 134.00; 450 to 465 lbs., 131.00 to 138.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 114.00 to 121.00; 575 lbs., 110.00; 620 to 670 lbs., 106.00 to 109.50; 845 to 870 lbs., 92.50 to 94.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 470 lbs., 118.50. Large frame 2, thin 400 lbs., 60.00; 640 to 655 lbs., 37.50. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 775 lbs., 105.50; 825 to 835 lbs., 98.00 to 98.50. Delivered price, 600 to 625 lbs., 109.00 to 112.00; 850 to 885 lbs., 97.75 to 99.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price, 850 lbs., 92.50.
