Woodland Owners Conference rescheduled for June 20 to 21Missouri Landowners can learn to rehabilitate high-grade forests after harvesting at the annual Missouri Woodland Owners Conference, June 20 and 21, in Columbia. Originally scheduled for late February, the conference was postponed due to inclement weather. Other topics include an update on efforts to revise state forestry laws and news from the Chicago Climate Exchange on carbon credits for managed forests, said Hank Stelzer, University of Missouri Extension forester. On June 20 conference participants can take a field trip to the MU Horticulture and Agroforestry Research Center in New Franklin to learn how to prevent timber theft. The trip to HARC will be followed by a tour of the Missouri Pacific Lumber Company's mill in Fayette. The conference will be at the Courtyard by Marriott in Columbia. Registration is $50 for the conference and $15 for the field trip.
