Watertown cattle sales

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 750 head April 30, compared to 1,630 head last week and 1,150 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady. Feeder heifers were steady to $1 lower. Feeder steers made up 43% of the sale, feeder heifers made up the remaining 57%, with 97% weighing 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 525 lbs., 116.00; 665 to 691 lbs., 110.00 to 113.75 (111.05); 16 head, 716 lbs., 111.00; 6 head, 825 lbs., 98.00; 850 to 863 lbs., 98.50 to 99.80 (99.58); 917 to 940 lbs., 95.50 to 98.00 (96.15); 953 to 998 lbs., 93.50 to 95.40 (94.34). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 789 to 794 lbs., 104.50 to 107.00 (106.05); 11 head, 936 lbs., 92.00; 15 head, 986 lbs., 92.00; 10 head, 1145 lbs., 85.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 10 head, 522 lbs., 105.00; 9 head, 602 lbs., 99.50; 7 head, 653 lbs., 95.00; 10 head, 712 lbs., 96.00; 762 to 792 lbs., 95.40 to 96.60 (95.96); 6 head, 825 lbs., 95.25; 850 to 877 lbs., 89.75 to 93.50 (92.90); 30 head, 948 lbs., 90.00; 14 head, 980 lbs., 88.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 27 head, 798 lbs., 93.60; 19 head, 804 to 828 lbs., 91.00 to 93.25 (92.53).
