Two fungicides registered for cereals

BASF has received registration from the Environmental Protection Agency for two new fungicides for use on cereals. The two fungicides would provide broad-spectrum control of rust, head scab and other major cereal diseases.

Caramba fungicide, protects against head scab. The second fungicide is a premix fungicide product containing the active ingredients pyraclostrobin, the same active ingredient in Headline fungicide and metconazole.

State registrations or specific crop and or pest uses may still be pending in certain states.

Caramba contains the active ingredient metconazole and provides excellent activity against head scab. Already available in Europe and South America, Caramba is now available to United States growers as a solo product and as a premix with the world's strongest strobilurin, pyraclostrobin, said Jerry Minore, Senior Market Manager, fungicides, for BASF. Headline also contains the active ingredient pyraclostrobin. Caramba will be available for immediate use, pending state registrations.

The premix fungicide combines the active ingredients pyraclostrobin and metconazole. With two powerful modes of action and curative activity, the premix fungicide provides broad-spectrum activity against rust and other major cereal diseases.

Combining two robust active ingredients into one, the easy-to-use premix formulation when applied at flag leaf, offers cereal growers unsurpassed control of destructive cereal diseases while improving Plant Health--increased growth efficiency, improved stress tolerance and harvestability.
