Springfield dairy cattle sale

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 765 head April 23, compared to 756 head last month, and 816 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Demand was very good on the better quality and moderate on the rest of the offering. The supply was moderate and included 5% springer heifers, 15% bred heifers, 30% open heifers, 6% fresh and milking cows, 8% bred and springer cows, and 5% calves. Holsteins unless noted otherwise. Prices per head.

Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme 2000.00 to 2175.00, few Crossbreds 1725.00 to 1900.00. Approved 1575.00 to 1900.00. Medium 1425.00 to 1550.00, few Crossbreds 1100.00 to 1350.00. Common 800.00 to 1000.00, Crossbreds 520.00 to 800.00. Heifers bred three to six months, Supreme 2000.00 to 2150.00, few Jerseys 1725.00 to 1800.00. Approved 1600.00 to 1925.00, few Jerseys 1050.00 to 1350.00, Crossbreds 1460.00 to 1775.00. Medium 1025.00 to 1525.00, Crossbreds 1050.00 to 1330.00. Common 660.00 to 1000.00, Crossbreds 530.00 to 850.00. Heifers bred one to three months, Supreme Individual 1800.00. Approved to 1400.00 to 1725.00. Medium few 1050.00 to 1175.00. Common few 475.00 to 550.00.

Open heifers: Approved 200 to 400 lbs., 730.00 to 910.00, Crossbreds 380.00 to 500.00; 400 to 600 lbs., 950.00 to 1190.00, few Jerseys 1250.00 to 1410.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 1170.00 to 1220.00, Crossbreds 1160.00 to 1190.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 1200.00 to 1320.00. Medium 200 to 400 lbs., 530.00 to 780.00; 500 to 700 lbs., 750.00 to 1080.00, Crossbreds 680.00 to 950.00. Common 400 to 700 lbs., 350.00 to 560.00, Crossbreds 270.00 to 470.00.

Replacement cows: Fresh and milking cows, Approved 1450.00 to 1675.00. Medium 1000.00 to 1310.00. Common 410.00 to 770.00, Crossbreds 350.00 to 625.00.

Springer cows: Bred seven to nine months, Medium 1250.00 to 1500.00. Common 750.00 to 1075.00. Cows, bred one to six months, Supreme few 1775.00 to 1825.00. Approved to 1175.00 to 1475.00. Medium few 800.00 to 925.00, few Crossbreds 900.00 to 1050.00. Common 460.00 to 740.00.

Baby calves: Holstein heifers 290.00 to 500.00, few small 30.00 to 80.00. Holstein bulls 55.00 to 85.00, small 20.00 to 50.00. Jersey heifers 180.00 to 350.00. Jersey bulls 35.00 to 40.00 Crossbred heifers 160.00 to 220.00. Crossbred bulls 25.00 to 90.00.
