Salina livestock sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,925 head April 24, compared to 5,149 head last week and 1,813 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 600 pounds were steady in a light supply, and 600 to 900 pounds were $2 to $5 higher. Heifers at 300 to 650 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, and 650 to 900 pounds were $1.50 to $3 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 72% 600 pounds and over, 27% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 62% steers and 38% heifers.
