Miss Rodeo America coming to Hays, Plainville

Kansas

Amy Wilson, the first lady of rodeo, to visit Plainville and Hays Saturday, April 19 for the Plainville Saddle Club's Rodeo Royalty Clinic and Fort Hays State University's Rodeo.

"We are very honored to bring Amy to Hays and Plainville," commented Billie Ayers of the Plainville Saddle Club. "Amy is very popular and her calendar began filling up shortly after being crowned. Only through the joint efforts of the Plainville Saddle Club, Brackney Construction, Mid-America Rodeo and Short Go Rodeo of Hays and Manhattan were we able to successfully book Amy's appearance."

According to Anna Luna, Miss Rodeo Plainville Pageant Coordinator, Mikaela Brackney, Jr. Miss Rodeo Plainville, proposed the idea of inviting Amy to the Plainville Saddle Club's annual Rodeo Royalty Clinic for beginners. Wilson will lead classes during the clinic at Plainville's Township Hall, 108 S. Jefferson.

"This is a great opportunity for anyone who is involved in equine activities to come learn from someone who is the best in the nation at what they do. Limited space is available, so pre-registration is requested by April 14," said Luna.

Following the clinic, Wilson will perform at the 43rd Annual N.I.R.A Rodeo in Hays. The rodeo begins 7:30 p.m. at the Doug Philip Arena located along US183 By-Pass just west of Fort Hays State University.

A Colby, Kan. native, Wilson was crowned Miss Rodeo America in December 2007 during the 53rd Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas. She is only the second Kansan to be Miss Rodeo America.
