Joplin livestock sales reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 3,900 head April 28, compared to 6,300 head last week and 5,535 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves and yearlings were $2 to $4 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply was moderate. The bulk of the yearlings in medium flesh. The calf offering ran the full range of fleshy to thin, and consisted of weaned and un-weaned calves. The feeder supply included 50% steers, 4% Holsteins, 40% heifers, 6% bulls, with 40% over 600 pounds.
