Huron cattle sales report

The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 2,594 head April 29, compared to 2,833 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers sold $3 to $4 higher, and feeder heifers at 600 to 700 pounds sold $10 higher. Heifers over 700 pounds sold $2 to $3 higher. Demand was good with many load lots in the offering. Steers comprised 62% of the run, heifers 38%, with 89% of the run over 600 pounds.
