Goldthwaite sheep salesThe Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 2,601 head of sheep and goats April 25, compared to 2,182 head last week and 4,205 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week's special ewe and buck sale, demand was good on replacement sheep. Stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $5 to $10 lower, heavy weights were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were steady. Demand was good. The supply included around 60% sheep including nearly 750 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Stock ewes, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 3 years old, ewes 80.00 to 85.00 per head, few fancy 125.00 per head; solid mouth ewes, 40.00 to 80.00 per head; pairs, few with small lambs 30.00 per head. Stock bucks, Wool and haired 105.00 to 240.00. Dorper ewes, 50.00 to 85.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 25.00 to 45.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 130 lbs., 70.00 to 85.00. Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 110.00 to 123.00, few to 128.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 90 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 39.00. Barbados, lambs, 40 to 70 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 134.00 to 145.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 133.00 to 146.00.
