Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,132 head April 24, compared to 1,739 head last week and 1,356 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady, few load lots on offer were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were firm to $1 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 16% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 8%, and feeders 74%. The feeder supply included 48% steers and 52% heifers, with nearly 20% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 200 to 300 lbs., 146.00 to 147.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 135.00 to 143.00, lot 305 lbs., pre-conditioned 152.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 127.00 to 133.00; few 500 to 600 lbs., 118.00 to 121.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 347 lbs., pre-conditioned 134.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 121.00; two loads 747 lbs., 102.75.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 200 to 300 lbs., 122.00 to 125.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 115.00 to 120.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00; package 532 lbs., 99.50; lot 888 lbs., 86.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 300 to 400 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00; three loads 551 lbs., 105.25. Medium and large frame 2, two packages 511 to 585 lbs., 96.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1500 to 1900 lbs., 49.00 to 53.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 50.75 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.50 to 58.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 50.50 to 55.00; high dressing, 57.50 to 58.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 49.00.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1700 to 1900 lbs., 55.00 to 57.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 56.00 to 58.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 55.00 to 57.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 2500 lbs., 65.00 to 70.00; high dressing, 1910 lbs., 76.00, individual.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 800 lbs., with 125-lb. calves, 1050.00 per pair; middle-aged to aged, 800 to 1050 lbs., with 90- to 200-lb. calves, 710.00 to 775.00 per pair.
