Clovis livestock sales reportThe Clovis Livestock Auction Co., Clovis, N.M. reported receipts of 1,175 head April 30, compared to 1,143 head last week and 2,408 head last year, according to the USDA-New Mexico Department of Agriculture Market News, Clovis, N.M. Compared to last week, feeder steers were $3 to $4 higher. Heifers were $3 to $5 higher, except 300- to 400-pound heifers were steady. Slaughter cows were $1 to $2 higher and bulls were $1 higher. Trade was active and demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows were 29% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, bred cows 2%, feeders 66%. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 46% of the run, feeder bulls 4%, heifers 50%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 27%.
