Branganmere honored with Historic Angus Herd Award

Missouri

The American Angus Association salutes Branganmere, Marshfield, Mo., for their continued ownership and production of Angus cattle for more than 50 years. The Smiths will receive a certificate signed by the Association's president to honor this Historic Herd achievement.

Bob and Zetta Brangan purchased their foundation cattle from W. H. Barker, Fair Play, Mo., and M.E. & H.W. Harrison, Mountain Grove, Mo. That investment began the Angus herd at Branganmere. The Brangans joined the Association in April 1954. Bob and Zetta were active on the farm until their deaths.

Their daughter Roberta showed Angus as a 4-H project. Roberta and her husband, Kenneth Smith, moved back to the farm in 1972 and manage the more than 50 head cow herd today. Their two kids, Robert and Regina, and their children are active on the farm.

The American Angus Association presents the Historic Angus Herd Award to Angus herds that have been in the continuous production of registered Angus cattle by the same family for 50 years or more.

The American Angus Association is the world's largest beef breed organization, providing programs and services to thousands of commercial producers and more than 36,000 regular and junior members nationwide. For more information, go to www.angus.org or call 816-383-5100.
