Bull Sale

March 29

Haviland, Kan.

Averages:

51 Yearling Polled Hereford bulls, $5,377;

41 Commercial yearling replacement heifers, $830.

The Schultz family have been Polled Hereford breeders for a long time, and Hereford breeders from across the country bid competitvely for the leading lots in this sale. The six top lots all brought $13,000 to $10,000 and sold to breeders from Canada, Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and Texas. A huge crowd of repeat customers and commercial cattlemen were also on hand to appraise and bid on these reputation cattle--Rod Swafford.

49th Annual Production Sale

Averages:

50 Fall bulls, $3,746;

50 Spring bulls, $3,601.

A great offering of Angus bulls was greatly accepted by commercial and registered cattlemen. All the bulls were DNA tested--Guy Peverley.

National Braunvieh Bull Test Sale

April 9

Averages:

42 Fall bulls, $3,001;

45 Spring bulls, $2,207.

Twenty-seven Braunvieh breeders from across the United States consigned bulls to this Residual Feed Intake (RFI) test and sale. The bulls were fed at the Green Spring Bull Test in southwest Missouri--Guy Peverley.

Annual Performance Bull and Female Sale

April 10

Averages:

82 Bulls, $2,400;

61 Females, $2,952.

The Kimzey family put together a superior offering of bull and females. Purebred and commercial cattlemen filled the seats to bid on the cattle--Guy Peverley.

47th Anniversary Production Sale

April 14

Sale Manager: Hall of Fame

Averages:

50 Bulls, $2,060;

95 Females, $1,590.

This was a production sale for the Benton family at Hillhouse Angus and the dispersal of the Dr. Roger Evans herd. Cattlemen filled the seats to buy this set of Angus genetics--Guy Peverley.

March 17

Averages:

55 Bulls, $2,100;

69 Females, $2,600;

124 Registered Angus sold in all.

The top selling bull of the day was Lot 77, Cooley Trav 004 38225, a September 2006 son of SAV 8180 Traveler 004, which sold to Leroy Hiniger, Fargo, Okla., for $3,300.

Lot 104, HRD Focused 7131, a February 2007 son of Mytty In Focus, sold to Spence Ruble, Woodward, Okla., for $2,700.

Lot 105, HRD 6807 In Focus 725, a February 2007 son of Mytty In Focus, sold to Redgate Ranches, Waynoka, Okla., for $2,700.

The top selling female of the day was Lot 1, Maplecrest Blackcap 411, a January 2004 daughter of Bon View New Design 208, which sold to Tana Farms of Mississippi, for $19,000.

Lot 10, BJAF Pride 462 1923 RT, a February 2004 daughter of Leachman Right Time, sold to Flying S Angus of Tennessee, for $3,000.

Lot 30, HRD 5185 Enchomere 7112, a February 2007 daughter of SS Objective T510 0T26, sold to R.J. Hollon, Woodward, Okla., for $2,900.

Lot 53, HRD Rita In Focus 642, a September 2006 daughter of Mytty In Focus, sold to Steven's Ranch, Alva, Okla., for $2,900--Ken Rockenbach.
