West Plains livestock sales

The Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 4,200 head May 20, compared to 2,391 last week and 3,041 last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers at 450 to 750 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, spots were $6 higher on 550 to 650 pounds, and other weights and all heifers sold steady to $3 higher. Supply was moderate, with several high quality 6 weight weaned calves and lighter yearlings in the offering. Demand was good on most all classes, and buyers were aggressive. Cattle futures were closed in the cattlemen's favor. The supply consisted of 43 percent steers, 7 percent holsteins, 4 percent bulls and 46 percent heifers and nearly 52 percent weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 126.00 to 134.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 126.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 125.00, lot fancy 561 lbs., 123.50, fleshy 111.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 109.00 to 120.50, fleshy/calves 108.50 to 116.00, some 660 to 670 lbs., fat 100.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00, fleshy calves 102.50 to 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 117.50 to 135.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 121.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 111.50 to 117.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00; couple part to loads 880 to 910 lbs., 100.50 to 100.75. Medium and large frame 2, pkg 360 lbs., thin 133.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 121.00, thin near 400 lbs., 122.00 to 124.00; lot 540 lbs., 116.00; 550 to 600 lbs.,99.00 to 108.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 97.00 to 100.50; lot 827 lbs., 100.00.

Holstein: Large frame 3, 400 to 450 lbs., 69.00 to 75.50; part load 744 lbs., 73.50; couple lots 834 to 857 lbs., 74.25; 2 pot loads 900 to 940 lbs., 74.25 to 75.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 107.50 to 112.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 114.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.50 to 111.00, fleshy 99.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 108.00, calves/fleshy 96.00 to 105.50; few 700 to 725 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 107.00 to 116.00, pkg thin 366 lbs., 118.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 112.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 98.50 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 106.00, fleshy 98.50 to 99.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 95.00 to 103.00, few fleshy 90.00 to 92.50; 800 to 825 lbs., 95.00 to 96.75. Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 117.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 97.50 to 101.00; 750 to 780 lbs., 93.00. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, lot 418 lbs., thin 116.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.00 to 106.50.
