Tulsa cattle sales reportThe Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,097 head May 19, compared to 1,292 last week and 2,799 last year, according to the Oklahoma Dept of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves were steady. Feeder steers were lightly tested and steady to $4 higher, with most advance on 7 weights. Feeder heifers were $1 to $2 lower, except 7 weights were $2 to $3 higher. Demand was very good for the light test of feeders and weaned calves. Weigh-ups were mostly average. There was a good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 44 percent steers, 49 percent heifers, 7 percent bulls, with 28 percent of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were mostly steady, with weaker demand near end of sale. Packer bulls were steady to $1 higher. A total of 457 cows and bulls sold with 66 percent going to packers. The Tulsa Stockyards will be closed May 26 for Memorial Day.
