Springfield cattle sales reportThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,863 head May 14, compared to 1,837 head last week and 2,161 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 700 pounds were steady, over 700 pounds were steady to $2 higher, Holsteins were steady to $3 higher compared to a light test last week, heifers were steady to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, the supply was moderate. A higher percentage of fleshy, un-weaned calves offered than in the previous sale. The feeder supply included 32% steers, 9% Holsteins, 46% heifers, 13% bulls, with 41% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 118.50; 600 to 665 lbs., calves 106.50 to 109.00, lot 683 lbs., 110.50; 700 to 750 lbs., lbs., 108.50 to 109.00; 800 to 835 lbs., 101.50 to 102.00.
