Salina livestock sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,192 head May 15, compared to 2,332 head last week and 1,875 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 350 to 700 pounds were $3 to $7 higher in an extremely limited supply. Those at 700 to 800 pounds were firm to $2 higher, and 800 to 1000 pounds were $3 to $4 higher. Heifers at 350 to 500 pounds were $1 to $2 higher, 500 to 700 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, and 700 to 900 pounds were $1 to $3 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 84% 600 pounds and over, 13% 600 pounds and under, 3% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 67% steers and 33% heifers.
