OKC West livestock auction report

The OKC West Livestock Market, El Reno, Okla., May 21 reported receipts of 6,370 last week and 8,469 last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week: Feeder steers and heifers steady to $1 higher, except steers over 900 pounds $1 lower. Demand continues very good for feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves steady to $2 higher with good demand. Supply included several loads of heavy weight cattle. Weigh-ups average to full, few gaunt. Feeder cattle in slightly thin to fleshy conditions. Supply consisted of 87 percent over 600 pounds; 8 percent under 600 pounds; 5 percent cows and bulls. Total included 32 percent heifers.

Slaughter cows mostly steady. Slaughter bulls $1 to $2 higher. Packer demand moderate to good. Total included herd dispersal of bred cows and pairs. Total of 414 cows and bulls sold with 35 percent going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 390 lbs., 142.00; 425 to 500 lbs., 127.00 to 137.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 118.50 to 126.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 112.50 to 119.50, 600 to 650 lb., calves 110.00 to 114.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 110.00 to 113.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 112.25; 800 to 850 lbs., 104.00 to 107.50; 850 to 900 lbs., 102.25 to 105.75; 900 to 950 lbs., 97.75 to 102.50; 950 to 1000 lbs., 95.00 to 102.00; 1000 to 1100 lbs., 95.00 to 97.00; 1160 lbs., 91.25. Lights, 38 head, 80 to 90% lean, 675 to 975 lbs., 50.00 to 53.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 57.50; very low, 42.00 to 48.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 and 2, 12 head, 1300 to 2400 lbs., 70.00 to 72.50; high dressing, 73.50 to 77.00; low dressing, 66.50; very high, 77.00 to 85.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 1 to 4 year old, 900 to 950 lbs., 6 to 8 months, hi quality, 880.00 to 930.00; 1 to 4 year old, 800 to 950 lbs., 6 to 8 months, average quality, 730.00 to 825.00; 5 year old, 1250, lbs., 8 months, high quality, 990.00; 5 to 6 year old, 1100 to 1200 lbs., 4 to 6 months, high quality, 850.00 to 925.00, 5 to 6 year old, 1050 to 1150 lbs., 3 to 6 months, average quality, 710.00 to 850.00; 7 to 8 year old, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 5 to 7 months, average quality, 840.00 to 850.00.
