Joplin livestock sales report

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 7,000 head May 19, compared to 4,800 last week and 5,890 last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers calves under 500 pounds were steady and steers over 500 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Heifers under 650 pounds were steady and over 650 pounds were steady to $3 higher. Demand was good for yearlings, moderate for calves. The supply was moderate to heavy. The feeder supply included 49 percent steers, 43 percent heifers, 7 percent bulls, with 42 percent over 600 pounds.

The Joplin Regional Stockyards will be closed May 26 for the Memorial Day holiday. The regular schedule will resume May 27.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 137.00 to 145.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.50 to 125.50, lot 475 lbs., fleshy 114.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 125.50, fleshy 109.00 to 113.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.00 to 117.00, calves 108.00 to 113.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.25 to 114.00, pkg fleshy 104.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 101.50 to 108.10; pkg 1063 lbs., 87.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 250 to 300 lbs., 131.00 to 130.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 132.00, thin 135.00 to 145.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 118.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.50 to 114.00, calves 105.00 to 111.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 112.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 95.00 to 106.10; 940 to 965 lbs., 96.85 to 98.75.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, pkg 387 lbs., 84.00; pkg 417 lbs., 76.00; 500 to 560 lbs., 65.00 to 70.00; pkg 646 lbs., 64.00; pkg 832 lbs., 66.50; lot 1004 lbs., 58.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 116.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 112.00, fleshy 103.00 to 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.25 to 106.50, lot 619 lbs., fleshy 101.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 95.00 to 103.10; 800 to 860 lbs., 90.50 to 98.00; pkg 870 lbs., 81.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2 250 to 270 lbs., 109.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 103.00 to 114.25; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.75 to 108.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 95.50 to 103.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 95.00 to 101.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 90.00 to 93.75; lot 1024 lbs., 68.00.
