Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 2,756 head of sheep and goats May 16, compared to 1,807 last week and 3,996 last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Lightweight slaughter lambs were steady, and heavy weights were steady to firm. Stocker and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were $5 to $7 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 45 percent sheep including near 1,000 lambs.

Stock and feeder sheep: Dorper ewes, 70 to 100 lbs., 40.00 to 60.00; Dorper bucks, 100.00 to 125.00 per head; Barbados ewes, few 70 to 90 lbs., 34.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 and 3, 90 to 110 lbs., 97.00 to 116.00; Good and Choice 1 and 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 100.00 to 118.00, few to 120.00.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 and 3, Medium Fleshy, few 100 to 150 lbs., 125.00 to 135.00.

Slaughter bucks: 100 to 225 lbs., 25.00 to 50.00.

Barbados: Lambs, 15 to 40 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00; 45 to 75 lbs., 90.00 to 105.00, few to 115.00; ewes, few 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 25 to 40 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00; 40 to 60 lbs., 123.00 to 137.00, few to 143.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 125.00 to 135.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 120.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00, few 50.00 to 55.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00, few lightweights, 90.00 to 95.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 110 lbs., 120.00 to 128.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 75.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 50.00; Pairs, 25.00 to 39.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, individual 120 lbs., 93.00.

Stocker and feeder goats: few 25 to 40 lbs., 90.00 to 105.00.
