Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,626 head May 15, compared to 1,542 head last week and 1,376 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers were steady to firm. Feeder heifers were firm to $2 higher, except 500- to 600-pound heifers were $4 to $6 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 650-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 28% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 1%, and feeders 70%. The feeder supply included 53% steers and 47% heifers, with nearly 15% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, load 241 lbs., pre-conditioned 172.50; package 328 lbs., 145.00, 350 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 138.00; three packages 400 to 457 lbs., 130.00 to 135.00, four packages 473 to 496 lbs., 124.50 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 117.00, pre-conditioned 118.00 to 120.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.00 to 114.50, package 615 lbs., thin 118.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.50 to 107.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 124.00; package 546 lbs., 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 108.50. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 105.00; package 516 lbs., 105.00; package 610 lbs., 109.00; package 728 lbs., 103.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, load 250 lbs., pre-conditioned 142.50; 300 to 400 lbs., 114.00 to 119.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00, package 456 lbs., thin 114.25; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.50 to 108.00, pre-conditioned 115.00 to 121.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.50 to 107.00, package 693 lbs., 99.00; package 764 lbs., 97.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 106.00 to 110.00; two packages 477 to 495 lbs., 100.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.00 to 101.50, package 500 lbs., pre-conditioned 113.75. Medium and large frame 2, package 439 lbs., 95.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 58.00 to 60.00; high dressing, 62.00 to 62.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 57.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 61.00 to 63.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 54.50 to 59.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1200 to 1800 lbs., 69.00 to 75.00; high dressing, 1790 lbs., 80.50, individual.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1288 lbs., 7 to 9 months bred, 900.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1100 lbs., with 100- to 160-lb. calves, 810.00 to 1060.00 per pair.
