2008 National Junior Maine-Anjou Show set for July

"A Star Spangled Extravaganza" the 2008 National Junior Maine-Anjou Show and National Junior Chianina Show are to be held in conjunction June 29, July 4 in Kansas City, Mo., at the American Royal Complex. The National Junior Shorthorn Show will also be held that week at the American Royal Complex.

The National Junior Maine-Anjou Show is the most highly attended American Junior Maine-Anjou Association (AJMAA) activity of the year. Six days of contests, activities and cattle shows are planned in which the junior members can participate.

Schedule of events for the Maine-Anjou and Chianina breeds are as follows:

June 29:

All Day, Cattle Arrive/Set Up;

2 p.m., 6 p.m., Cattle and Contestant Check-In;

6 p.m., All Cattle Must Be On Grounds;

7 p.m., Chi Board Meeting and Dinner.

June 30:

8 a.m., Cattle in Place;

8:30 a.m., Advisor Meeting, Maine;

8:30 a.m., Exhibitor Meeting, Chi;

9:30 a.m., Speech Contest, Maine and Chi;

12 p.m., Lunch, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

2 p.m., Quiz Bowl, Chi;

2:30 p.m., Team Fitting, Maine;

4:30 p.m., Stierwalt Fitting Clinic;

6 p.m., Dinner, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

7 p.m., Fun Night, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn.

July 1:

6:30 a.m., Breakfast, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

8 a.m., Cattle in Place;

8 a.m., Showmanship, Chi;

9 a.m., Stockman's Quiz Contest, Maine;

1 p.m., Cook-off Contest, Maine;

1 p.m., Obstacle Course, Chi;

3 p.m., Embryo Transfer Speaker, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

4 p.m., Judging Contest, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

6:30 p.m., Opening Ceremonies, Meal and Dance, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn.

July 2:

8 a.m., Cattle in Place;

8 a.m., Showmanship, Maine;

9 a.m., Stockman's Quiz Contest, Chi;

11 a.m., Annual Meeting and Elections, Chi;

12 p.m., Lunch, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

12:30 p.m., ACA National Queen Interviews;

1 p.m., Salesmanship, Maine and Chi;

3 p.m., TH and PHA Speaker, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

5 p.m., Annual Meeting and Elections, Maine;

6 p.m., Dinner, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

7 p.m., Adult Showmanship -Maine, Chi and Shorthorn.

July 3:

7 a.m., Breakfast, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

8 a.m., Cattle in Place;

8 a.m., MaineTainer Female Show, Maine-Anjou Bull Show, Maine-Anjou Steer Show;

1 p.m., ChiAngus Female Show, Chi Steer Show (Chi shows will start 30 minutes after the Maine-Anjou shows conclude, approx. 1 p.m.);

6 p.m., Awards Banquet, Maine.

July 4:

7:30 a.m., Breakfast, Maine, Chi and Shorthorn;

8 a.m., Cattle in Place;

8 a.m., Chi-Maine Female Show, Chianina Female Show, Chianina Bull Show;

1 p.m., Maine-Anjou Female Show (Maine-Anjou show will start 30 minutes after Chianina shows conclude, approx. 1 p.m.);

7 p.m., Awards Banquet, Chi.

Chi cattle are released at the conclusion of the Chi banquet. Maine-Anjou cattle are released at the conclusion of the show.
