Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,528 head May 12, compared to 3,707 head last week and 3,947 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers over 700 pounds were $2 higher and under 700 pounds were steady. Feeder heifers over 600 pounds were $1 to $4 higher, and under 600 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $3 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. The feeder cattle accounted for 96% and slaughter cows and bulls made up 4% of the offering. The feeder supply included 74% steers and 26% heifers, with nearly 83% of the run over 600 pounds.
