Texhoma cattle sales report

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 940 head May 14, compared to 650 head last week and 1,575 head last week, according to the USDA to Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle and calves were not well tested. Demand was good for all classes, though supplies were light. Weigh-ups were average. The supply included 65% steers, 2% heifers with 74% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $3 higher. A total of 343 cows and bulls sold with 23% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 514 lbs., 120.50; 19 head, 593 lbs., 118.25; 734 to 746 lbs., 108.00 to 111.50 (109.37); 52 head, 810 lbs., 111.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 701 lbs., 107.25; 24 head, 780 lbs., 105.00. Medium and large frame 2, 16 head, 537 lbs., 113.75; 11 head, 674 lbs., 108.25; 6 head, 700 to 708 lbs., 104.50 to 105.00 (104.58); 8 head, 778 lbs., 100.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 430 lbs., 115.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 362 lbs., 113.00; 5 head, 415 lbs., 107.00; 6 head, 455 lbs., 110.50; 5 head, 523 lbs., 105.50; 5 head, 591 lbs., 105.50; 17 head, 647 lbs., 103.75; 20 head, 718 lbs., 101.50. Medium and large frame 2, 618 to 640 lbs., 101.50 to 102.75 (102.47); 11 head, 706 lbs., 99.10.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 2 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 54.75 to 55.00; high dressing, 62.00. Boners, 29 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 55.50 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.00 to 62.50; low dressing, 53.50 to 54.00. Lean, 31 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 54.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 57.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 50.50 to 53.00. Light, 7 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 11 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 67.00 to 69.50; high dressing, 78.00 to 79.50; low dressing, 61.00 to 63.75.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 years old, 925 lbs., 200-lb. calves, average blacks 1090.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1150 lbs., with 150- to 175-lb. calves, average quality 935.00; 6 to 7 years old, 1075 to 1150 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, average quality 800.00 to 835.00; 6 to 7 years old, 925 to 950 lbs., with 100-lb. calves, average to low quality 705.00 to 730.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1050 to 1200 lbs., with 150- to 250-lb. calves, average quality 850.00 to 880.00; 8 to 9 years old, 1000 to 1025 lbs., with 100- to 125-lb. calves, average to low quality 705.00 to 740.00; 10+ years old, 1050 to 1075 lbs., with 175- to 225-lb. calves, average quality 780.00 to 830.00.
