Sprngfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,837 head May 7, compared to 1,981 head last week and 2,045 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers were steady following last week's sharp upturn, Holsteins were $2 to $4 lower on a very light test. Demand and supply were moderate. A Wean-vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. The feeder supply included 42% steers 5% Holsteins, 45% heifers, 8% bulls, with 39% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 430 to 475 lbs., 119.50 to 125.50, package fleshy 110.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.50 to 114.50, calves or fleshy 103.00 to 114.00; 770 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 104.00; 800 to 870 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 244 lbs., thin 126.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 121.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 119.00; package 603 lbs., calves 102.00, 650 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00; 700 to 750 lbs., fleshy 90.00 to 95.00, 750 to 800 lbs., 100.50 to 102.50; package 818 lbs., 103.00; package 908 lbs., 95.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 334 lbs., 71.50, package 393 lbs., 91.00; package 416 lbs., 71.00; lot 547 lbs., 68.50, package 557 lbs., fleshy 64.00; lot 674 lbs., 65.00; package 706 lbs., 70.00; package 900 lbs., 67.00.
