South Central direct sheep

The South Central Direct sheep report for the week ending May 9, showed receipts of 2,500 feeder lambs, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady. There were no slaughter lambs, slaughter ewes or slaughter meat goats. Replacement meat goats were not tested. Trading and demand were moderate. Numbers of available feeder lambs were increasing but most producers were taking advantage of available feed because of the lack of price differential due to weight.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 2500 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, new crop 70 to 90 lbs., 113.00 to 115.00, set crossbreds 70 lbs., with .50 slide over 70 lbs., 125.00.
