Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 4,466 head May 8, compared to 4,314 head last week and 1,988 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers at 300 to 750 pounds were $2 higher in a light supply, and 750 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $5 higher, mostly $2 to $4 higher. Heifers at 300 to 600 pounds showed a higher undertone in extremely light supply, 600 to 750 pounds were steady to $3 higher, and 750 to 900 pounds were $3 to $6 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $3 higher. Receipts included 69% 600 pounds and over, 21% 600 pounds and under, 10% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers.
