The K-State Research and Extension Southeast Agricultural Research Center will host a wheat tour and canola information session May 29 at the center's Parsons field. The field is located on Ness Road (also called North 32nd St.) immediately south of U.S. Highway 400.

The tour begins with registration and a complimentary breakfast at 7:30 a.m., followed by presentations beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Several of the presentations will include information pertinent to growing wheat in southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma, said K-State's Lyle Lomas, who is head of the research center. The presentation topics and presenters will include:

--Canola Production in Southeastern Kansas--Jim Long, K-State crop development agronomist; and

--Sensor-Based Nitrogen Management Strategies for Winter Wheat--Brian Arnall, Oklahoma State University plant and soil scientist.

Advance registration is not required. The tour will be held indoors in the event of rain, Lomas said. Further information is available by contacting the K-State Research and Extension Southeast Agricultural Research Center at 620-421-4826.
