Joplin regional cattle salesThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,800 head May 12, compared to 6,000 head last week and 5,156 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, MO. Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds were steady, over 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher, heifers were $1 to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, the supply was moderate. Demand was best for weaned calves and yearlings. The feeder supply included 44% steers, 6% Holsteins, 44% heifers, 6% bulls, with 54% over 600 pounds.
