Joplin regional cattle sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,800 head May 12, compared to 6,000 head last week and 5,156 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, MO.

Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds were steady, over 600 pounds were steady to $2 higher, heifers were $1 to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, the supply was moderate. Demand was best for weaned calves and yearlings. The feeder supply included 44% steers, 6% Holsteins, 44% heifers, 6% bulls, with 54% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 137.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 119.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.00 to 114.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.50 to 111.50; 825 to 835 lbs., 104.25 to 104.50; 900 to 935 lbs., 100.60 to 102.30. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 240 to 300 lbs., 132.00 to 137.50; 300 to 400 lbs., 119.00 to 129.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 122.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 111.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 109.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 99.80 to 104.25; package 910 lbs., 99.00.
