Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, May 9, showed receipts of 1,807 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,992 head last week and 3,946 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Lightweight slaughter lambs were $8 to $10 lower, and heavy weights were steady on a light test. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $5 to $7 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including near 450 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 56.00 to 85.00 per head; pairs, few 35.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 125.00 to 185.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice: 110 to 150 lbs., 82.00 to 85.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 45 to 85 lbs., 105.00 to 120.00. Slaughter bucks, 150 to 250 lbs., 48.00 to 53.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 105.00; ewes, 60 to 95 lbs., 42.00 to 55.00.

Slaughter classes: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 130.00 to 144.50; 60 to 80 lbs., 130.00 to 144.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 120.00 to 127.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 55.00, few 59.00 to 60.00. Billies, 100 to 175 lbs., 78.00 to 89.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 100 to 125 lbs., 96.00 to 103.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 50 to 65 lbs., fancy 146.00 to 151.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 125 lbs., 55.00 to 80.00; pairs, 30.00 to 43.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 100 to 200 lbs., 94.00 to 104.00.
