Farm Credit of Central Kansas announces scholarship recipients

Farm Credit Services of Central Kansas, an $885 million Ag financial cooperative serving over 3,200 stockholders throughout central Kansas, is pleased to announce that twelve scholarship recipients have been selected to receive $750 awards for the upcoming academic year.

The 2008 scholarship recipients include:

--Kristin Bolte of Jewell, Accounting, Kansas State University;

--Kimberly Brinker of Glen Elder, Kinesiology/Pre Physical Therapy, Kansas State University;

--Benjamin Colle of Hutchinson, Agronomy, Kansas State University;

--Kristin Fisher of St. John, Business Administration/Finance, McPherson College;

--Katie Govert of Cunningham, Kinesiology/Pre Physical Therapy, Kansas State University;

--Nicholas Mizner of Esbon, Agribusiness/Finance, Kansas State University;

--Benjamin Norris of Wellington, Ag Tech/Ag Economics, Kansas State University;

--Kristi Roe of Gypsum, Life Science, Kansas State University;

--Kristin Sterneker of Cunningham, Animal Science/Pre-Vet, Kansas State University;

--Monica VanCurren of Sedgwick, Accounting, Wichita State University;

--Kevin Waldschmidt of Waldron, Agribusiness/Agronomy, Oklahoma State University; and

--Alan Youngers of Viola, Construction Engineering/Business, Pittsburg State University.

"This year's scholarship recipients were selected from an outstanding pool of applicants," said John Engelland, chairman of the association's board of directors. "We understand the importance of investing in the future and are proud to support students as they pursue careers that benefit our rural communities."

The scholarships were available to FCS customers or their dependents and were awarded based on academic record, leadership qualities and community involvement.

Farm Credit Services of Central Kansas is an $885 million Ag financial cooperative serving over 3,200 stockholders throughout central Kansas. The cooperative, part of the nation-wide Farm Credit System, provides financing for all purposes including Ag real estate, operating, equipment and rural property loans. They also provide services such as crop and life insurance and leasing.
