Watertown livestock auction

The South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 1,400 head May 7, compared to 750 head last week and 900 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder heifers were $1 to $2 higher while feeder steers were steady. Feeder steers made up 63% of the sale.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 573 to 597 lbs., 113.00 to 116.00 (114.27); 674 to 697 lbs., 111.50 to 115.00 (112.36); 5 head, 714 lbs., 110.50; 6 head, 754 lbs., 108.00; 820 to 832 lbs., 101.30 to 101.75 (101.37); 13 head, 932 lbs., 93.00; 50 head, 1002 lbs., 93.25; 1069 to 1098 lbs., 92.80 to 93.60 (93.09); 1106 to 1115 lbs., 90.50 to 92.60 (92.01); 1186 to 1190 lbs., 90.40. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 644 lbs., 106.25; 13 head, 798 lbs., 103.50; 816 to 847 lbs., 93.50 to 93.80 (93.71); 25 head, 816 lbs., 89.75 fleshy; 49 head, 952 lbs., 93.90; 13 head, 1044 lbs., 89.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 542 to 546 lbs., 108.50 to 110.00 (109.28); 662 to 695 lbs., 102.00 to 104.50 (102.81); 5 head, 718 lbs., 99.50; 750 to 786 lbs., 95.25 to 99.50 (97.97); 40 head, 786 lbs., 106.75 replacement; 8 head, 808 lbs., 95.75; 30 head, 846 lbs., 100.00 replacement; 14 head, 880 lbs., 96.00; 923 to 930 lbs., 85.50 to 89.75 (89.27); 16 head, 978 lbs., 85.25; 9 head, 1055 lbs., 85.00.
