Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,296 head May 5, compared to 1,885 ahead last week and 1,784 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker steers and feeder steers were $1 to $2 lower. Stocker heifers were $2 to $4 higher, with feeder heifers steady to $2 higher. There was very good demand for weaned cattle. Weigh-ups were mostly average with higher instances of No. 1 cattle and good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 48% steers, 40% heifers, 6% bulls, with 28% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $2 higher with packer bulls selling $2 higher. A total of 344 cows and bulls sold with 51% going to packers.

Light, 42 head, 85 to 90% lean, 755 to 950 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 54.00; low dressing, 42.50 to 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 28 head, 1300 to 2100 lbs., 65.00 to 68.50; high dressing, 69.00 to 71.50; low dressing, 60.50 to 64.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 5 years old, 850 to 900 lbs., 3 to 6 months old, low quality, 500.00 to 680.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 4 years old, 1100 lbs., with 200- to 250-lb. calves, average blacks, 1320.00.
