Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,707 head May 5, compared to 2,792 head last week and 3,782 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm, with instances of $2 to $4 higher on 600- to 800-pound offerings. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were not enough for a market test. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2% of the offering, replacement cows 3%, and feeders 95%. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers, with nearly 78% of the run over 600 pounds.
