Springfield to host National Junior Salers ShowAmerican Salers juniors are making plans to have a kickin' good time at the 2008 American Salers Junior Association Junior National. The Missouri and Arkansas Salers Associations will host the ASJA Junior National June 24 to 28. Salers junior enthusiasts from across the country will be "Kickin' It Up In The Ozarks" at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, Springfield, M. This year's event is packed full of junior and family fun events for everyone. More than 50 exhibitors and their families will bring over 100 head of cattle to the event. Other contests this year include a Quiz Bowl, Livestock Judging Contest, No Fit Showmanship and Bucket Calf Show, Team Fitting, Junior Poster Contest and Intermediate and Senior Team Marketing, ASJA Queen and Princess Contest and a Tailgate Cookoff. The week will top off with an awards banquet that will recognize participants' achievements throughout the ASJA Junior National. This year cattle will be evaluated by Travis Pembrook of Fairview, Okla. Also assisting in the judging of various contests will be Matt and Amy Crutcher of Mo. Entry fees for this year's ASJA Junior National are $25 per animal entered by June 1. Late-entry fees will be $50 per animal entered after June 1. The ASJA is also accepting applications for the ASJA Board of Directors. To apply you must be at least 15 years old and a member of the ASJA.
