Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,981 head April 30, compared to 1,917 head last week and 1,748 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 700 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, over 700 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, Holsteins were steady to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, and supply was moderate. Flesh conditions ran the full range of thin to fleshy. The fleshy and plainer calves found a more narrow outlet than the others. The feeder supply included 25% steers, 21% Holsteins, 36% heifers, 18% bulls, with 35% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 250 lbs., 124.00; 340 to 355 lbs., 121.00 to 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00, package fleshy 114.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 123.50, fleshy 107.50 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 119.50, calves or fleshy 102.00 to 114.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 102.50 to 108.00, package fleshy 97.00; package 813 lbs., 103.50.
