Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,981 head April 30, compared to 1,917 head last week and 1,748 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 700 pounds were $2 to $5 higher, over 700 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, Holsteins were steady to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, and supply was moderate. Flesh conditions ran the full range of thin to fleshy. The fleshy and plainer calves found a more narrow outlet than the others. The feeder supply included 25% steers, 21% Holsteins, 36% heifers, 18% bulls, with 35% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 250 lbs., 124.00; 340 to 355 lbs., 121.00 to 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 130.00, package fleshy 114.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.50 to 123.50, fleshy 107.50 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 119.50, calves or fleshy 102.00 to 114.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 102.50 to 108.00, package fleshy 97.00; package 813 lbs., 103.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 113.00, thin 112.00 to 117.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.50 to 110.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 98.50 to 104.50.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 300 to 400 lbs., 77.00 to 89.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 70.00 to 81.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 70.00 to 83.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 67.00 to 73.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 67.50 to 69.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 68.50 to 72.50, package 898 lbs., thin 64.50; 925 to 950 lbs., 67.00 to 69.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 325 to 400 lbs., 107.00 to 112.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 98.00 to 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 94.50 to 105.00, package calves 94.00; package 745 lbs., fleshy 90.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 95.00 to 106.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 94.00 to 102.00, thin 99.00 to 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 88.50 to 100.00, thin 95.50 to 104.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 90.00 to 100.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 90.00 to 92.00.; 830 to 860 lbs., 88.00 to 91.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, package 371 lbs., 121.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 119.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 108.00; 600 to 670 lbs., calves 95.00 to 103.00; few 700 to 715 lbs., 99.00.
